Counselling
Our MS specialist counsellor has many years’ experience of providing support to all kinds of people whose lives are touched by MS, whether they be the person with MS, their family, carers or friends.
Many people are unsure about counselling: they have questions about what it is, or how it can help. At Revive MS Support, we offer a, confidential, person-centred counselling service for anyone affected by MS, which many people have found extremely helpful.
Counselling offers the chance to explore any difficulties you may be experiencing. Our counsellor can help you deal with the emotional turmoil which diagnosis and living with MS brings. They are a listening ear and can offer you a way of thinking and working through conflicting and confusing issues or feelings.
Due to the nature of MS, you may find yourself in distressing or unfamiliar circumstances. Counselling will give you the chance to express yourself and to be heard. Speaking with the counsellor may result in you feeling less anxious. When we are less anxious or worried we can enjoy life more fully and be more supportive to people around us.
Our counsellor will not solve all your problems. He will not tell you what to do or give you advice. However, by listening carefully and attentively, he can help you to see things more clearly, possibly from a different perspective.
Our counsellor is especially experienced in assisting people with MS to cope with symptoms of fatigue and runs a regular information and discussion group on this topic.
Counselling only happens at your request, and can be as frequent or infrequent as you like. Please do not hesitate to make an appointment or ask any therapist for more information.

Counselling is a process through which an individual can take time out from their daily routine to consider aspects of their life. The process usually involves three key stages:
1. Clarifying the problems to be solved
This sounds easy, but many problems are inter-related and exploiting one may reveal others.
2. Reaching a decision to change
When someone recognises that there is a problem, it doesn’t mean they will automatically want to make the changes needed to deal with it.
3. Support during change
The Counsellor gives support in counselling for as long as it is beneficial.

Counselling is available at our Maryhill MS Centre and all Outreach Clinics and visits to your home are also an option if travelling is an issue. Call 0141 945 3344 or
